Instructor-Led Training

Self-study certainly has its place; however, there is a point where you need to take your learning to the next level. This is the point where instructor-led training comes into your education. This type of training is extremely valuable because it allows you to apply what you are learning to actual equipment. While I cannot speak for all training companies, I would recommend using a training company that has certified instructors and lives up to high standards—after all, it is your career. Additionally, as the interest in networking continues to grow and expand, many companies/individuals will tell you they can teach you what you need to know. I would caution that when it comes to instructor-led training, however, you typically get what you pay for. Also, make sure that the training institution you have selected has been certified or authorized by the equipment vendor to teach the courses in which you are interested. The Cisco Training Partner program is a good example.
